Poverty has increased in the Kurunegala district
The Secretary of The Liberal Party, Kamal Nissanka Attorney at Law at a meeting held at Pillessa (Kurunegala) stated that both major political parties have failed in improving the country during the last 72 years. He further stated that poverty among the poor sector has been increased and the economic gap between poor and rich had enlarged. He further stated that crime rate and drug addiction is highly prevalent in the country, and there is not a proper solution to irradiate the menace. He said that Liberal Party is mainly concerned about a knowledge based manufacturing economy aiming at the international market. He said that major parties in our country do not have a policy program for future. Specially in Kurunegala district there are more than 3000 tanks but there is no proper supply of water for cultivation. He said that all Government have mismanaged the agricultural policy and paddy-rice issue has become a major problem in country. Mr. M.T.M. Azad, candidate of Mawathagama also addressed the meeting.
